Closure of route from Pico do Areeiro to Pico Ruivo

Local newspapers are reporting (4th September) a statement from the Institute of Forests and Nature Conversation that a rockfall has closed the popular walking route between Pico do Areeiro and Pico Ruivo and that the route will remain closed until it has been cleared. 

The last update to the status of trails on the official website was (so far) on 18th July, so it's probably best to consult one of the tourist information offices for updates.
